UK Taxi Advertising Frequently Asked Questions

How does taxi advertising compare to advertising on buses?

Taxis are not restricted to fixed routes and operate at all hours. Taxis are often parked in public view when not being driven so your advert is still seen even then. The same size of advert on a taxi has much more impact as it covers most of the vehicle, unlike a bus where it is usually fairly small. With taxi advertising your budget can stretch much further as it is considerably cheaper to take out 1 or more taxi adverts than to advertise on buses. Plus you can have much more say in specific geographical areas you want to cover and the times of day you want maximum visibility. Also, Cabvertise brief their drivers to act as ambassadors for the product or service displayed on their adverts.

How effective is taxi advertising?

In a word, very.

Over 70% of adults regularly notice taxi advertising and taxis drive well over 100 miles every day. Taxis spend over 90% of their time in the busiest locations such as city centres and train stations where your customers can't fail to notice your taxi advert as we'll make sure it stands out.

The average taxi journey lasts 20 minutes and during that time the passenger is highly likely to read any tip-up seat advertisement facing them as they are a captive audience.

How much does a typical taxi advertising campaign cost?

You can get a simple, short campaign on the road for less than £1000 (not full livery).

However, there really is no such thing as a typical campaign as you can have as many or as few cabs as suit your needs for varying time periods from 2 weeks to 1 year or even longer. The complexity of the design can also affect the price.

Due to the fact that the vehicle vinyls have to be designed, printed and applied then most of the costs are front loaded. This means that your campaign is actually more cost-effective the longer it runs. It also means that it becomes cost effective to have more cabs on the road once you have a design you love.

At Cabvertise we cater for all budgets from large multi-city, high volume campaigns to single cab, small business needs. Talk to us to discuss your budget and what you want and we'll try to accommodate as best we can.

How long does it take from finalising a design to getting the taxi advert out?

Usually this happens within a week but it does depend on the requirements of the client. Some clients want to wait for a specific start date for marketing reasons, others want it faster than this and we always try to achieve what the client wants when they want it.

If a particular colour of cab is required Cabvertise source the best example of this they can find as soon as discussions take place to ensure that the driver is ready, willing and able to have the advert applied as soon as it's finalised.

How does taxi advertising compare to newspaper and magazine adverts?

Taxi adverts are significantly cheaper and more flexible. Plus, taxi adverts are seen by everyone not just people who buy a particular publication. Our cab drivers also undertake to keep their cabs and therefore their taxi adverts in the best condition and as clean as possible, so your advert will always look high quality.

Can I specify particular areas of a city for a campaign to focus on?

Yes. You can also specify if you require drivers who actually live in certain areas so that their taxi adverts will be seen on the parked cab outside of driving hours as well.

What happens if the taxi has an accident and my advert is damaged?

As part of the taxi advertising package Cabvertise also offer the facility to take out advert insurance. This means that if the taxi has an accident and your advert is damaged in any way it will be replaced by Cabvertise once the damage is repaired and any time taken for this to happen will be added on to the time left for the campaign to run.

What happens to the taxi advert at the end of the contract period?

Cabvertise will contact you to offer you a significantly reduced renewal price close to the end of your contract period. If you choose to terminate your campaign at this time Cabvertise will ensure that your taxi advert is removed professionally. This means that you will avoid the negative publicity that a damaged and half removed advert can cause.
